Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn added: “It takes a special fight to break down barriers and boundaries but also networks and executives who believe in working with the best interest of fight fans in mind.

“With the obstacles in place it would have been any easy resolution to not air the fight in the States but I want to thank HBO and Showtime for their perseverance and allowing America to see one hell of a fight at our national stadium.”

Showtime boss Stephen Espinoza described the fight as “[representing] not only the contesting of the heavyweight world championship, but potentially the changing of the guard in the most influential division in boxing” while his HBO counterpart Peter Nelson expressed delight at securing “primetime coverage”.

Joshua and Klitschko’s fight at Wembley Stadium will bring two former Olympic champions together, and will unify the IBF and WBA ‘Super’ heavyweight titles.

When former champion Wladimir Klitschko challenges up-and-coming heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua on April 29, the only question for American fans had been which network would air the fight live.

It was announced Monday that Showtime will broadcast the Joshua-Klitschko heavyweight blockbuster bout live that Saturday at 4:15 p.m. ET as the centerpiece to its loaded spring schedule.

Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) will attempt to regain one of the three heavyweight titles he lost by upset to Tyson Fury in 2015 when he faces England’s Joshua (18-0, 18 KOs) in London.

Showtime’s spring schedule also includes previously announced welterweight bouts Andre Berto-Shawn Porter on April 22 and Kell Brook defending his title against Errol Spence Jr. on May 27. In addition, in a pair of featherweight title bouts Klitschko vs Joshua Live Stream, unbeaten Gervonta Davis faces Liam Walsh and Gary Russel Jr. faces Oscar Escandon on May 20 from separate sites.

“We are thrilled to be delivering Joshua vs. Klitschko to the U.S. audience live on SHOWTIME,” said Stephen Espinoza, executive vice president and general manager of Showtime Sports.  “On the afternoon of April 29, U.S. sports fans will be able to tune in to Showtime to join a record-breaking crowd of 90,000 at Wembley Stadium and a worldwide television audience in witnessing an event that represents not only the contesting of the heavyweight world championship, but potentially the changing of the guard in the most influential division in boxing.  We are proud to be Anthony Joshua’s exclusive U.S. television partner as he attempts to establish his legacy against the legendary Wladimir Klitschko, live on Showtime Championship Boxing, as Showtime continues its unrivaled commitment to the sport.”

The move to secure the heavyweight championship bout was a big one for Showtime considering its recent commitment to Joshua, 27, the Olympic gold medalist who appears poised to take over the sport. It was also key considering Klitschko, 41, had fought almost exclusively on HBO over the past 15-plus years in the United States. In fact, the bout will re-air Saturday night with a tape-delayed separate production being broadcast by HBO at 10:15 p.m. ET.

With a record crowd of more than 90,000 expected at London’s Wembley Stadium, the fight has the potential to be an incredible event and potential “passing of the torch” bout as Klitschko faces his former sparring partner.

With just 12 days before the fight, U.S. TV rights for Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko on April 29 have finally been settled and announced. As had been rumored, Showtime will air the fight live at 4:15 pm ET, with HBO airing a same-day replay at approximately 10:45 pm ET.

Showtime has a deal with Joshua, while HBO has Klitschko under contract. With this not being a pay-per-view type of fight in the United States, the networks had to come to the sort of deal they’ve never done before. Notably, they worked together for the Lewis-Tyson and Mayweather-Pacquiao pay-per-views, but this is a different situation.

“We are thrilled to be delivering Joshua vs. Klitschko to the U.S. audience live on Showtime,” said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Showtime Sports.

HBO Sports EVP Peter Nelson added, “Both promoters and both networks have found a solution that enables boxing fans in the U.S. to watch the world heavyweight championship. This agreement ensures that our subscribers have access to same-day primetime coverage of the fight. It will mark Wladimir Klitschko’s 22nd appearance on HBO and the first for Anthony Joshua.”

There is a rematch clause for the fight, so if a second fight comes about, HBO would have the rights to air it live, with SHO doing the same-day replay.

Anthony Joshua is changing the game and breaking records in the process with his super fight with Wladimir Klitschko a candidate for the biggest fight in British boxing history.

An Olympic gold medallist in 2012, Joshua’s stardom has shone bright ever since on a fast-track to defending his IBF World heavyweight title against the future hall-of-famer from Ukraine.

The 27-year-old is mobbed wherever he goes, but Joshua continues to embrace his popularity, instead acknowledging his role as a heavyweight World champion.

“We [as boxers] are accessible, which is good,” Joshua told the Guardian. “I think being a boxer you have to be a man of the people.

After months of haggling, bitter premium cable rivals Showtime and HBO have made a deal that will see both of their broadcast crews at ringside at sold-out Wembley Stadium in London on April 29 to produce separate American telecasts for the fight between heavyweight world titleholder Anthony Joshua and former champion Wladimir Klitschko.

The deal, announced Monday by promoters Matchroom Sport and Klitschko Management Group and the two networks, will see Showtime, which has a contract for Joshua’s American television rights, televise live coverage of the bout in the United States beginning at 4:15 p.m. ET. HBO, which has a contract covering Klitschko’s U.S. TV rights, will air its version of the fight on tape delay beginning at approximately 10:45 p.m. ET/PT, following the conclusion of its taped coverage of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction concert.

Because both networks have contractual rights to their fighters, making the deal was a huge struggle. Both wanted to televise one of the biggest heavyweight fights in years. Now they both will under their unprecedented agreement.

“We are thrilled to be delivering Klitschko vs Joshua Live Stream to the U.S. audience live on Showtime,” Stephen Espinoza, executive vice president and general manager of Showtime Sports, said. “On the afternoon of April 29, U.S. sports fans will be able to tune in to Showtime to join a record-breaking crowd of 90,000 at Wembley Stadium and a worldwide television audience in witnessing an event that represents not only the contesting of the heavyweight world championship, but potentially the changing of the guard in the most influential division in boxing.”We are proud to be Anthony Joshua’s exclusive U.S. television partner as he attempts to establish his legacy against the legendary Wladimir Klitschko, live on Showtime Championship Boxing, as Showtime continues its unrivaled commitment to the sport.”
